I would suggest short videos like this for youth group meetings. I believe that men like Drew Brees, Tim Tebow, Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton... these are the famous athletes children should be looking up to. It takes a lot to be a good guy and talk about Christ publicly. Children need to see that it is not only okay, but that it is possible to do so confidently and still remain "cool".
Few famous Christians are as vocal about their faith as Josh Hamilton. He is among the best players in Major League Baseball, a former AL MVP, and he's now made it to the World Series two years in a row. He is a leader in the club house, and a leader off the field.
Hamilton's story is one that many people who have suffered loss or succumbed to worldly temptation could relate to. Hamilton suffered a major loss in an automobile accident years ago, in which he survived but was injured but his parents didn't. After that, he became addicted to alcohol and drugs.
Turning his life to Christ saved him and resurrected his career. He doesn't drink or do drugs anymore. He openly talks about God. He's kind of the Tim Tebow of baseball, except Tebow didn't have a troubled past. Hamilton did.

We could take a deep look at the demographic of professional sports teams and what percentages there are of Christian Athletes per team and where they are at. However, what if you found a team where a high percentage of the players are Christian?
This can be found in the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals, one of those small market baseball teams that are in the playoff race year in and year out. Perhaps this routine of success is no coincidence. If a team is full of players that honor and glorify God, surely their success stems from something outside of simple skill.
One Christian on the team is Matt Holliday. Matt is an amazing outfielder who played college ball at Oklahoma State University. He had several good years with the Colorado Rockies before being traded to the Oakland A's before the 2009 season. Halfway through that year Matt was having his worst statistical year in his professional career. And then he was traded to St. Louis where he turned it completely around and helped lead them to the playoffs. Here is a video of his testimony of his faith in Jesus Christ.
Another player on the Cardinals that is a Christian is All Star Pitcher Adam Wainwright. Wainwright made a name for himself during the Cardinals World Series run several years ago. Now he is a staple and the leader of the Cardinals very good pitching staff. His testimony is below.
And finally Albert Pujols is a Christian too. In fact, he's one of the best all around athletes in all of sports. He's won multiple MVP awards, a World Series and he is a phenomenal leader on and off the field. As far as professional athletes that are Christian, he's definitely one of the finest.
The whole purpose of this blog is simply to share videos and stories about famous actors, musicians, athletes, politicians and even the little people out there making a difference and representing the Gospel. In times such as these with our country, and world, declining in support of Christian and Biblical ideals and teachings of how we are to live our lives, I find it to be of more and more importance to have people out there in the spot light standing up for their faith.
Every Christian faces persicution in some form or manner from society at some point in life. Sometimes this occurs daily. We, the common folk, face difficulties and temptations in everyday life. The magnitude a celebrity or someone in similar positions face is uncomprehendable. The pressures of the media outlets and society in general place Christians in positions where defending their faith can place their careers and lives in jeprody.
